Cancer education programs

Cancer Council Victoria’s cancer education programs are designed to support you and your loved ones at every stage of your cancer experience. Led by trained facilitators and using Cancer Council Victoria designed programs, we provide a safe and welcoming space for you to gain a deeper understanding of your condition and self-care strategies.

According to Cancer Council Victoria, ‘research shows that group-based cancer education programs can help participants to connect with others, develop coping strategies and improve health outcomes.  People who are well informed about cancer and its management also tend to be more confident when dealing with their healthcare providers.’

You'll have the chance to meet and connect with other patients and carers on a similar journey, sharing experiences and building a supportive community. Best of all, our programs are completely free of charge, ensuring that everyone has access to the information and resources they need.

Whether you're newly diagnosed or further along in your treatment, our programs are here to empower you every step of the way.

Partners, carers and family members are welcome to attend all sessions, ensuring that everyone involved in your care has the support and information they need.

Managing Cancer Program

Tailored for newly diagnosed patients, this program focuses on helping you and your caregivers understand your diagnosis, explore treatment options, and manage the physical and emotional challenges of cancer. With expert guidance, you'll gain the confidence and knowledge needed to make informed decisions and take an active role in your care.

Cancer Wellness Program

For those who have completed treatment, our Cancer Wellness Program is dedicated to helping you rebuild and maintain your health. This program offers insights into nutrition, exercise, mental well-being, and long-term survivorship. It’s also a place where you and your caregivers can connect with others who are transitioning into life beyond treatment, sharing experiences, and learning how to thrive post-cancer.
