We celebrated International Women's Day at Austin Health last week, recognising our 2024 Inspirational Women award recipients and nominees with a hybrid event.
This is the seventh year that Austin Health has hosted an event to recognise and celebrate the remarkable women across the organisation through the International Women’s Day celebrations. This year we received 53 nominations – setting a new record!
Congratulations to all our 47 nominees and six award recipients of this year’s Inspirational Women award. Thank you for your remarkable contribution to Austin Health, our patients and our community.
Associate Professor Eliza Hawkes is one of them.
Aside from her role as a Medical Oncologist, Eliza is also the founder of Women in Lymphoma, an international alliance dedicated to the promotion of leadership of female lymphoma clinicians, researchers, and educators.
Eliza was nominated by her colleague, Dr Jodie Palmer, who shared, “Eliza puts patients and her colleagues first. She actively lobbies industry partners for access to interventions which will improve the survival and quality of life for her patients."
"She also mentors many female doctors, working with them to build their experience and CV to ensure success in the future.”
